Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has called for accountability and fairness among police officers during the commissioning of the Machakos Subcounty Administration Police office. He emphasized the importance of professionalism and community trust in ensuring security and stability across Kenya, urging officers to uphold their duty to protect and serve all citizens.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has emphasised fairness and accountability in the National Police Service.
Masengeli told officers serving in all police formations and units across the country to be accountable for their actions. He said their operations must reflect fairness, equality and professionalism at all times.
“As we move forward, let’s remain guided by our collective mission: a secure, safe, and stable Kenya where every citizen can live, work and thrive. Let this facility stand as a symbol of that vision; firm, reliable, and dedicated to service,” Masengeli said.
He spoke while presiding over the official commissioning of the Machakos Subcounty Administration Police office in Machakos county on Friday. The office was contracted by the National Constituency Development Fund.
“With this clarion call, let every post we man, office we open, and community we serve reflect one unwavering truth: our duty is to protect, serve, and uphold the dignity of all Kenyans,” Masengeli said.
Masengeli said the commissioning of the new offices strengthened police presence, availability, and commitment to serve Kenyans.
He said the offices symbolise the National Police Service’s resolve to take services to the people.
“They enhance stability through coordination and create an enabling environment for our officers to perform their duties with professionalism, efficiency and dignity. Security is most effective when it’s present, responsive, and trusted by communities it serves,” Masengeli said.
The police boss maintained that as a service, their mandate remains clear: to safeguard life and property, critical infrastructure, and support the National Administration to ensure stability across all regions.
He said the newly commissioned facility would deliver through deployments, improved response, and stronger community engagements.
Mesengeli said deployment alone wasn’t enough; it must be merged with discipline and integrity.
“Because when officers are asleep, disasters stay awake. Decisions made must meet fairness, professionalism, and respect for human dignity. As an African proverb reminds us, a house is built by hands, but a home is built with hearts,” he said.
“Today, we have built a house; it’s now upon us, officers of the National Police Service and the community, to build the spirit and will defined by it,” Masengeli said.
He urged Machakos county residents to continue partnering with security agencies, stating that security is a shared responsibility.
“Your corporation, information sharing, trust, essentially enable us to suppress crime and maintain peace. Our partners and stakeholders, we appreciate your continued support,” Masengeli said.
