Africa-Press – Kenya. The Orange Democratic Movement has condemned an attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, describing the incident as unacceptable and calling for a swift investigation.

In a statement, ODM party leader Oburu Oginga stated that he had received news of the physical attack “with a heavy heart and profound concern,” and wished the senator a full and speedy recovery.

“The incident that occurred is not only unfortunate but utterly unacceptable in a civilised, democratic society. We must be clear: Violence has no place in our political discourse,” he said.

Oburu added that differences in opinion, ideology, or political affiliation should not be resolved through confrontation or intimidation.

“As a party, ODM remains committed to the pillars of democracy, the rule of law, and the respectful exchange of ideas. I wish to reiterate our unwavering stance: we do not support, condone, or tolerate violence in any form. Such acts of aggression are an affront to the democratic gains we have fought so hard to secure for this nation,” the party leader stated.

He also called on security agencies to investigate the incident.

“I strongly condemn this cowardly act and call upon the relevant security agencies to conduct a swift, thorough, and impartial investigation. The perpetrators must be held accountable to the full extent of the law to serve as a deterrent against future acts of political hooliganism,” Oburu said.

The party urged the public to uphold peace and tolerance, warning that such incidents could undermine national stability.

“Let us remain a nation guided by peace, tolerance, and mutual respect. We must not allow the actions of a few to jeopardise the stability of our country.”
