Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) men’s team coach Sammy Kiki is convinced his team will strongly challenge for the Premier League title.
The tactician said that going by his team’s current form, he is optimistic of positive results in the remaining six games.
He was speaking after his charges’ fruitful weekend in which they won their two home matches against Strathmore University Blades and Thunder.
KPA beat the Blades 63-51 before dispatching Thunder 86-70 to leapfrog University of Nairobi ‘Terrorists’ and Thunder to third on 25 points after 13 matches.
Champions Ulinzi Warriors are still top of the standings with 31 points, four ahead of Equity Bank, with both having played three games more than KPA.
“The good results we have posted was as a result of the boys training together for some time. If we continue doing this, I am sure we will post better results,” Kiki said. “I have six games left, three of them at home.”
KPA’s away fixtures include two mouth-watering meetings with Warriors and Equity Bank.
Meanwhile, KPA women blanked Eagle Wings 65-27 and Strathmore University 60-28 in Mombasa during the league matches played over the weekend.
In Eldoret, Eldonets won 56-46 over Kenya College of Accountancy University and 55-54 against University of Nairobi Terrorists.
In Nairobi, Equity Bank shut out Umoja 77-66 while the women’s side pipped Zetech University 49-45.
Storms whipped Africa Nazarene University 82-62.
In Kisumu, Lakeside beat University of Nairobi Terrorists 71-56 and stopped Kenya College of Accountancy 58-53.
The Lady Bucks lost 61-51 at home to University of Nairobi Dynamites.
