Africa-Press – Kenya. A Kenyan film has won a prestigious Student Oscar Award during an event held on Thursday, October 21.

The Kenyan-produced film and sponsored by Germany Adisa, won the Silver Student Oscar at the 48th Student Academy Awards. It emerged victorious for the category of Narratives International Film Schools.

The good news was first shared by German Embassy in Kenya who congratulated the entire production team for putting in collaborative efforts to bag that coveted award.

“Accolades for ADISA, the German-Kenyan short film that we sponsored, are still coming in! ADISA yesterday won the Silver Student Oscar at the 48th Student Academy Awards for the category Narratives International Film Schools. Congratulations to Walking Ghost Film and Film Crew in Africa,” German Embassy Nairobi posted on the social media page on Friday, October 22.

Adisa film is a Kenyan human-interest story produced by Film Crew in Africa that is actually based on a true story. It gives an account of what happened in Cameroon where a kid was run over by a convoy of the then-American Ambassador to the United Nations in 2016.

The film was screened in breathtaking cities and countryside of Kenya that gives the backdrop of the film evoking emotions and telling the story as it happened.

It was directed by Simon Denda. The cast in the film includes Kenyan Jackline Wanjiku, Victoria Mayer, Gotz Otto, and Robert Agengo.

The Student Academy Awards is an international competition that was established in 1972. Every year, college and university film students from all over the world compete for awards and cash grants.

The categories considered in the competition include Animation, Documentary, Live Action Narrative, and Alternative/Experimental. Previously, Student Academy Award winners have gone ahead to bag 11 Oscars.
