Africa-Press – Kenya. The Kenyatta International Convention Centre has been awarded Africa’s Leading Meetings and Conference venue, and the continent’s leading Business Travel Destination (Nairobi), by World Travel Awards .
This is for the third year running that KICC has won the top awards.
World Travel Awards (WTA) is a leading global authority that recognises and rewards excellence in travel, tourism, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (M.I.C.E), and business events.
WTA unveiled Africa and Indian Ocean 2021 winners on Thursday.
KICC chief executive Nana Gecaga said: “We are humbled to get such great recognition three years in a row. The awards are once again an indication of the outstanding efforts by the Kenyan M.I.C.E and business events sector to position the country as a preferred destination for business events.”
She has also attributed the global recognition to support from the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, the government as a whole, KICC board staff, and the general public.
The awards will spearhead Kenya’s marketing campaigns, positioning the country as attractive not only as a leading venue but also as a preferred destination for business events.
KICC will be hosting the next Africa and Indian Ocean Gala ceremony to be held in 2022.
The event gives a platform for stakeholders to partner with KICC, and showcase what Kenya has to offer in the M.I.C.E sector, management said in a statement on Friday.
“KICC is streamlining conferencing to ensure visiting delegates that come to Kenya have an all-rounded experience,” Gecaga said.
The corporation is further working with stakeholders to come up with attractive pre and post-conference packages that will ensure delegates experience the whole of Kenya.
The move is aimed at increasing Kenya’s conference tourism market share locally and internationally, Gecaga noted.
