Africa-Press – Kenya. International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) has said preserving peace is everyone’s commitment.

Following the August 9 polls, the Foundation urged Kenyans to refrain from any violence.

“Despite political interests, it is important to remain calm at all times and avoid any aggressive behaviour,” IHRF said.

“Let’s appreciate and respect our peers, whatever their ideas.”

IHRF said individuals and institutions are all responsible for the social tension generated by current events and their reflection in the media and social networks.

“We are all called upon to conduct the diversity of ideas through exclusively peaceful and democratic means,” they said.

The IHRF called on Kenyans to maintain serenity and trust in the strength of the public institutions of democracy.

“Let us all defend peace and respect for human dignity at all times, rejecting insults, attacks and invitations to hatred.”
