Africa-Press – Kenya. Nakuru governor-elect Susan Kihika will be sworn into office on August 25.
Kihika won the gubernatorial race in the August 9, poll after ousting the incumbent governor Lee Kinyajui.
“The transfer process is underway and almost through,” the chairman of Assumption of the Office of the Governor Committee Benjamin Njoroge said on Monday.
He said the ceremony will be open to the public to come and witness.
Over 10,000 are expected to grace the occasion.
“The event will be held at Nakuru ASK showground,” he added.
Njoroge noted that the date was chosen after a committee of 17 members deliberated on the matter.
She was declared the winner of the race by the County Independent Electoral and Boundaries Returning Officer, Joseph Melle after garnering 440,707 votes against her closest competitor, Lee Kinyanjui of the Jubilee party who got 225,623 votes.
Kihika will be the third governor of Nakuru County.
Kinuthia Mbugua was first and was ousted by Lee in the 2017 elections.
