Africa-Press – Kenya. A man has died in a hit and run accident along Mombasa road in Machakos County.
Athi River South subcounty police commander Mary Njoki said the man’s body was found lying along the road at Nairobi – Namanga road interchange in Athi River on Friday night.
Njoki said the incident was reported to Athi River police station by members of the public at around 11.00pm.
“He is unknown male adult. It was a hit and run incident that happened at unknown time, but reported to Athi River police station at around 11.00 pm,” Njoki on Saturday told the Star on phone.
She said the body was moved to the nearby Shalom Community hospital’s mortuary awaiting identification and an autopsy.
Njoki said they had launched investigations into the incident and were tracing the hit and run vehicle.
She called on members of the public who might have witnessed the accident to volunteer information to police so as to help in the investigations.
The incident happened hours after four people died in a road accident on the same highway at Mukaa in Makueni County.
The four – male – adults died in a tragic road accident at Kwa DC area in Mukaa sub county on Friday.
