Africa-Press – Kenya. Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i deactivated his Twitter account on Tuesday.

He deactivated his account shortly after President William Ruto took his oath of office on Tuesday at Kasarani Stadium.

His Twitter account had over one million followers.

Matiang’i was serving in the outgoing government as the Interior Cabinet Secretary.

He publicly supported Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga during the campaign period.

His support for Raila caused a clash between him and Ruto.

However, the fate of Matiang’i is still unknown as he exists the government.

His move comes days after he penned a hearty farewell message as his term ended.

He appreciated Kenyans for supporting him to serve in various capacities.

“Visitors can now travel to all parts of our country free of fear. Calm now prevails in many places where conflicts were rampant. Overall, we now have a more secure country to bring up our children and to pursue our private interests,” read the letter.
