Africa-Press – Kenya. The director of planning at Directorate of Criminal Investigation Nicholas Kamwende has been named the deputy Director General at the DCI.

Kamwende takes over from Hamisi Massa who proceeded on terminal leave in the changes announced on Wednesday.

Acting Inspector General of police Noor Gabow announced that former director of reforms at DCI Eliud Lagat will take over at the Investigations Bureau (IB).

Lagat took over from John Gachomo who was sent to replace Mohamed Amin at the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU).

Gabow termed the changes normal.

“These changes are in line with ongoing police reforms and are aimed at streamlining services; enhancing effectiveness, efficiency and professionalism in service delivery by the National Police Service,” he said.

The new director of Anti Terror Police Unit will be Johnstone Kola while outgoing ATPU boss Martin Otieno Omumbo will be deployed at the DCI headquarters.

Head of Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, Paul Mumo, has been redeployed to the Kenya Police Headquarters at Vigilance House in Nairobi for further allocation of duties.

The changes came hours after Mohamed Amin took over office following his appointment as the new Director General of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.

Amin was sworn into office on Wednesday morning.

The new team consists of experienced officers who will boost Amin’s efforts to address crime in general.

More changes are in the offing in the service, officials said.
