Africa-Press – Kenya. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Saturday rekindled a moment when Bishop Emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega Philip Sulumeti offered him a beer.
Mudavadi narrated that together with his wife and late father-in-law they had gone to visit him, decades ago, in his chambers to get his blessings before his wedding.
“One thing that the Bishop did when we went to his chamber, he offered me a beer. I looked at him and said my God is the Bishop trying to trap me or something, I don’t understand this what do I do? Mudavadi said.
Mudavadi added that the Bishop Emeritus insisted he should have it but he shied away and refused to have it.
“I later learnt that it was in good faith and what he was saying is that if indeed we are those who partake to it, take it in small doses and reasonable measure so that you don’t lose your senses,” he said.
This caused a light moment as the congregation burst into laughter.
Mudavadi celebrated the Bishop Emeritus saying he has been on the frontline in fighting challenges in the Western region.
He further assured Kenyans the government will serve everyone despite their political affiliation during the campaign period.
“We have a common destiny to serve the people of Kenya, a common destiny to revive the economy and we can only do it if we all work together,” Mudavadi said.
Sulumeti marked the 50th year of service since he was first ordained in 1972.
Other leaders present included Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua among other leaders.
