Africa-Press – Kenya. Former Agriculture CS Peter Munya has spoken about his life after his exit from the cabinet.

In an interview with the Sunday Nation, Munya said he had settled down and accepted his new status outside the government.

“I am now a full-time farmer. I am doing coffee and dairy. I also recently started doing tea farming. Here there is no pressure,” he said.

Munya added that the secret rested on how one accepted life, saying he has no problem with being an ordinary citizen as “you cannot be at the public service forever.”

“It is a slow but very satisfactory life; almost opposite of what happens in government offices where there is a lot of pressure and public scrutiny,” the former CS said.

He however said he still misses his duties in public service.

“I will definitely miss my job as a minister because I enjoyed offering solutions to national issues. My proudest moment was in the agriculture docket when I led major reforms in the coffee and tea sectors,” he said.

Munya served as the CS for Agriculture from January 14, 2020, to October 2022.

He handed over the office to CS Mithika Linturi on Thursday.

Munya served as the Trade CS from 2018 to 2020, before he was appointed to replace Mwangi Kiunjuri in the Ministry of Agriculture.

Before that, he was the EAC CS in 2018. He had worked in the ministry as an Assistant Minister in the coalition government.

He also served as Assistant Minister for Internal Security and Provincial Administration in 2006.
