Six to face JSC panel for High court judge interviews

Africa-Press – Kenya. The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) have resumed interviews for the High Court judge position.

On Monday, judges Nzioka Ngumbau , Martin Obuo, Aggrey Ogutu , Philemon Nyaachi , Teresa Odera and Willis Odede will face the panel between 9 am and 3pm.

The interviews will end on Wednesday, November 3.

The commission announced the interviews last month for 104 persons shortlisted to fill 20 vacancies in the Office of Judge of the High Court.

The 104 candidates were shortlisted from a pool of 266 applicants who had applied for the position, following an advertisement dated March 24, 2022.

Among those shortlisted for the interviews are President William Ruto’s lawyer Ng’ania Melissa and 46 magistrates.

Others shortlisted for the job are two top prosecutors –Dorcas Oduor (Secretary, Public Prosecutions and the Principal Deputy to the Director of Public Prosecutions) and Alexander Muteti (Senior assistant DPP).

Established under Article 172 of the Constitution, the JSC which is chaired by Chief Justice Martha Koome is required to promote and facilitate the independence and accountability of the Judiciary and the efficient, effective and transparent administration of justice.
