Africa-Press – Kenya. Outgoing Nairobi county CEC for Transport Mohammed Dagane has been nominated as Principal Secretary in the State Department for Transport.
He was among three Nairobi CECs who had been shortlisted in the 477 applicants out of 9,154 who applied for the positions ahead of the September 27, 2022 deadline.
Dagane has served in the Roads and Transport docket at City hall since he was sworn-in in November 2017.
Before joining City Hall, he was the Programs Coordinator at Rural Agency for Community Development and Assistance (RACIDA).
Dagane holds a Master of Arts in Governance and Ethics from Mount Kenya University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mass communication from Islamic University Uganda.
In his vetting report by the county assembly, Dagane has never been charged in a court of law.
He has never been dismissed from office for contravention of the provisions of Article 75 of the Constitution which deals with the conduct that is adversely mentioned in any investigatory report of parliament or any commission of inquiry
During his tenure at City Hall, he survived numerous reshuffles, an indication that Sonko trusted him in overseeing county road projects.
Dagane headed the Transport docket until January 2019 when he was moved to the Health docket in an acting capacity.
However, in January 2020, he was later moved back to the transport docket where he is currently serving.
Dagane is among 51 PS that will help President William Ruto run the government.
Ruto has forwarded the list to National Assembly for vetting.
