Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto on Wednesday flagged off Kenyan troops to the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for a peacekeeping mission in DRC.

Ruto said that Kenya will always contribute to peacekeeping and security in East Africa.

The President prayed for them and officially handed the East African Community Regional Force flag to the team.

Ruto said the East African countries have a collective responsibility to work together to end conflicts and violence that deny the region the space to prosper.

“This deployment is significant and urgent as it responds to the collective aspirations of a sustainable peace in our region. We owe our brotherly duty to DRC until the job is done,” he said.

The handing-over ceremony was held at the Embakasi Garrison in Nairobi.

He was accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale among other leaders.
