Young MPs meet to discuss youth opportunities

Africa-Press – Kenya. Young MPs under the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association (KYPA) have met in Nakuru for a retreat to discuss opportunities in the 13th parliament.

The inaugural retreat is said to be a chance for the youthful legislators to discuss ways to further the agenda for youth in the August house.

The retreat’s theme is finding opportunities in the 13th Parliament.

The retreat saw young leaders who are new to Parliament get inducted into the group.

Molo MP Kimani Kuria noted that a number of KYPA members had been re-elected to the 13th Parliament during the August general elections.

“This can be attributed to the mentorship programmes that were undertaken during the 12 the Parliament,” he said.

He encouraged young MPs to remain united under the KYPA banner.

KYPA, he said, cuts across the political spectrum and affiliations to push for better representation of the youth of Kenya.

Anthony Buluma, CEO of KYPA said that he was excited about the activities of the 13th parliament and the young parliamentarians present.

“We have increased our numbers by 15 more young members of parliament compared to the 12 the parliament,” he said.

He looked forward to young people’s interests being brought forward and full representation of youth matters.
