Africa-Press – Kenya. Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana and his Ikolomani counterpart Bernard Shinali have revealed an elaborate plan to nurture talent among the youth in their respective constituencies.
The two, who are on official duty in the United States of America, are establishing linkages that will enable talented youth from the two constituencies to access football scholarships and sports equipment.
Speaking to the Star on phone, Ikana said they had the privilege of visiting the Visual Soccer Academy in Iowa State USA, where they were received and hosted by Joseph Kipnusu, a senior coach at the institution and a former Harambee Stars luminary.
“We had a good time at the institution with one of our own, Kipnusu. We discussed several issues of concern and importance in relation with how we can nurture sports talent among the youth. Shinyalu and Ikolomani are rich in raw talent and we must look for the requisite means to tap this talent in order to improve the lives of our people,” Ikana said.
He said they had already received an assortment of football equipment including balls, boots, coaching boards and uniforms among others that will boost local teams.
Kipnusu is an experienced sports professional and community leader, an Independent Sports Consultant specialising in youth football development, recruitment and talent scouting with many years of playing and coaching careers.
