Africa-Press – Kenya. A total of 173,345 students have qualified for university. The minimum requirement to join a university to pursue a Bachelor’s degree is a mean grade of C+

While releasing the 2022 KCSE results, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said male students have performed better. “I hope going forward, females will improve,” he said.

A total of 1,146 candidates attained a mean grade of A, with 271 females and 875 males. In the A- category, females were 1,962 while male students were 4,445, bringing the total to 6,407.

“This is equivalent to 0.73 per cent,” Machogu said. The CS said 15,682 students attained the mean grade of B+, constituting 1.77 per cent.

“In this category, we have 6,104 females, while males are 9,578,” he said.

Additionally, male students took lead in the B plain category constituting 17,783 while females are 13,520. “A total number of students who attained B plain is 31,303,” he stated.

48,719 students managed to score a B- grade, with 27,245 males and 21,474 females. For C+, 70,088 students gained the grade, with males topping the number with 36,950. “The total number of females was 33,138,” he said.
