Africa-Press – Kenya. Two Ford Kenya MCAs on Tuesday lost their seats after a Kimilili court nullified their nominations. Kennedy Wanyama and Mildred Barasa were nominated to represent minority and marginalised groups.
Principal magistrate Gladys Adhiambo said the party awarded the two nomination slots yet they didn’t belong to any minority or marginalised group they purported to be members.
The petitioner Chrispin Kipsang moved to court to challenge their nominations. He argued that the minority and marginalised groups had not been represented in the Bungoma county assembly by the Ford Kenya party.
“We are not represented in any way as the two belonged to the Bukusu community which is the largest in the county,” Kipsang, an Ogiek said. He urged Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula to pick the real minority and marginalised people to represent the party.
