The Reds broke the deadlock with a close-range finish from Cody Gakpo while Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota scored twice each at Elland Road.
Luis Sinisterra produced the only goal for Leeds United and Darwin Nunez scored a splendid left-footed goal from inside the box in stoppage time to make it 6-1 in Leeds.
Liverpool, who have a game in hand, are eighth with 47 points while Leeds United are 16th with 29 points.
