Africa-Press – Kenya. Nakuru City Queens head coach James Angila says poor defending was to blame for their 4-3 defeat to Zetech at Gems Cambridge over the weekend. Angila says his charges had the chance to win the match but poor coordination among the defenders let in a regrettable winner for the opposition.
“We lost that match due to petty mistakes in our defence. We were not supposed to lose that match,” Angila said.
“But in the world of football, anything can happen. We accept we have lost and the target right now is to work on our mistakes as we focus on our next match,” he added.
Meanwhile, Zetech tactician Bernard Kitolo says they are taking one match at a time with eyes on maximum points in their battle to avoid the drop. “The win against Nakuru City Queens was very important in our fight to evade relegation,” Kitolo said.
Zetech, who tackle Kangemi Ladies in their weekend encounter, are seventh with 19 points alongside Bunyore Starlets, who drop to eighth on the weakness of their goal difference. Kisumu Starlets (17 points), Kangemi Ladies (-3 points) and Kayole Starlets (-9 points) are already in the relegation hot soup.
