Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto has arrived in Paris, France, for the Global Pact Finance Summit. Ruto was received by Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS Alfred Mutua ahead of his scheduled address during the summit. Speaking after his arrival, Mutua said President Ruto will be making an appeal for the creation of an inclusive international financial system.

“Receiving President William Ruto on his arrival. He is leading the Kenyan delegation to the New Global Financial Pact in Paris. This is a vital summit to create a fairer and more predictable International financial system that will lead to development in many nations. President Ruto will be making strong and innovative statements,” the CS said.

Ruto left the country on Wednesday, for the summit. A statement by State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed on Wednesday said he will also advocate for new institutional architecture for multilateral climate finance. Ruto will also make proposals for the establishment of a new Multilateral Climate Finance Institutional Architecture.

“President Ruto strongly advocates for a new architecture for international financial institutions that is equitable, inclusive, and adequate in financing sustainable development together with climate action,” he said.

“Kenya, Africa, and the Global South at large continue to face significant adverse effects of climate change, despite contributing the least to global warming and having the lowest emissions.”
