Mission hospital in Kitale attains Level 4 status

Africa-Press – Kenya. Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha has declared that St.John Mission Hospital Sirende in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, has attained Level 4 status.

Nakhumicha said the hospital is now recognised by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council Act as a Level 4 hospital. The CS presented the official certificate to the faith-based organisation hospital on Saturday when she paid a visit to the county.

“The certificate I hold comes from the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council Act. Certificate of registration as a faith-based medical institution to St. John Mission Hospital Sirende, Kitale, Trans Nzoia county owned by the faith-based organisation and now Level 4,” she declared as the crowd cheered.

Nakhumicha said it is an achievement for the faith-based hospital to become a level 4 hospital. She said the achievement is a testament to the government’s commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services.

“The elevation to Level 4 will significantly improve access to healthcare in the region, ensuring comprehensive and specialized care for all,” Nakhumicha said.

Also present as the CS presented the certificate to the new Level 4 hospital was Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya. The Ministry of Health also recently commissioned a Level 5 hospital in Keruguya, Kirinyaga County.

Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru on Tuesday said that the Kerugoya Medical Complex had started operations. The governor said most of the medical complex units were already running and the remaining ones would be functional by the end of the week.

“Units such as the Out Patient, Maternity, Newborn, Theatre, Pharmacy and Gynecology are running perfectly,” she said

“Others like surgical wards and paediatrics are to be operational by the end of this week.” She further expressed the county’s unrelenting willingness to offer the best healthcare services.
