STIHL EA launches Sh30m consumer reward plan

Africa-Press – Kenya. The German-based company specializing in farming tools has unveiled a Sh30 million consumer reward campaign as it marks its first year in Kenya. STIHL launched its East African subsidiary in Nairobi in August last year at the cost of over $4 million (Sh479.4) million, hoping to scale its market share by 50 per cent.

The campaign dubbed STIHL Ligi ya Power will run in different parts of the country where customers will showcase their prowess in using the firm’s products through mini-competitions where one national winner in each category will be awarded.

Some of the products in the competition include high-pressure cleaners, vacuum cleaners, chainsaws, tillers and brush cutters among others. STIHL East Africa marketing manager Pauline Ngigi says the move is aimed at celebrating loyal customers as well as increasing brand awareness in the country.

“As we celebrate one year in the Kenyan market, we want to reward our loyal customers, who have stood with us throughout the year. Our first year in the Kenyan market as a sales subsidiary has seen our market share increase by 30 per cent,’’ Ngigi said. The move comes as the company is set to increase its footprint in the Ugandan and Tanzania market next month.

“We are expanding our market to other countries in the region. We are set to go live in Uganda, Tanzania and Southern Sudan in the next three months. Customers in these markets can expect availability of quality products, available original spare parts,’’ STIHL East Africa sales manager John Wachira said.

The move comes as the company is set to increase its footprint in the Ugandan and Tanzania market next month. The firm’s dealership network has expanded to over five regions that include Nairobi, Mt Kenya, Rift Valley, Coast, Eastern and Western regions with over 30 dealers. Kenya is the second country in Africa after South Africa where the firm sets its branch.
