Africa-Press – Kenya. Students among three killed in Salgaa accident

Three people died Saturday in a road accident in the Salgaa area along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway. Police said the victims included two students and a driver. The matatu was heading to Eldoret from Nakuru when it collided with the lorry head-on.

The matatu had 15 passengers, including several students who were heading home after their school closed for the half-term break. Other passengers who were injured in the accident were taken to various hospitals in Nakuru County.

Five pupils, driver killed in accident at Kaburengu

Five pupils from Ebenezer Academy in Busia County died on Saturday evening after the school bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident. The accident happened at Kaburengu at 7:30pm, near Webuye town.

The school bus was hit by a Mercedes Benz that was travelling from Eldoret towards Webuye town. The driver of the Mercedes Benz escaped from the scene and police have launched a manhunt. The five – four girls and one boy – died on the spot. Their bodies have been moved to the Webuye County Hospital mortuary.

Tana River MCA Hamisi Idd dies in grisly road accident

A Member of the Tana River County Assembly died in a grisly road accident in Kanagoni area on the Garsen-Malindi highway on Saturday morning, police said.

Hamisi Idd, the MCA for the Chewani ward in Tana River County died on the spot following the accident. Coast police boss Tom Kimani said police are investigating the incident. He said the body was taken to a mortuary in Malindi.

Presidential motorcade vehicle involved in an accident

At least four members of the President William Ruto’s escort team sustained injuries after their official car rolled in Naivasha. The incident happened at Mlima Nugu along the Moi South Lake road as the car raced back to Nairobi, police said.

The vehicle was coming from Naivasha where Ruto had gone to flag off the 2023 WRC Safari Rally. The driver of the vehicle lost control while trying to negotiate a sharp corner on the route.
