Brewers' chance to win silverware as they take on Homeboyz

Africa-Press – Kenya. After the conclusion of the top-flight season that witnessed Gor Mahia crowned as champions, Kenyan football enthusiasts can expect another engaging thriller. KPL behemoths Tusker and Kakamega Homeboyz clash in an eagerly-awaited FKF Cup final at Nyayo Stadium this Saturday.

The Ruaraka-based brewers are leaving nothing to chance after surrendering the coveted topflight title to rivals Gor Mahia who edged them to the silverware by a solitary point.

The winner of Saturday’s clash will secure a direct ticket to the second-biggest continental showpiece, the Caf Confederation Cup and this is the only chance Tusker is left with to grace the international stage.

The Brewers’ head coach Robert Matano has made it clear that they are not in the mood to lose another prize, adding they will unleash their most potent arsenal to glow in the FKF Cup glory.

Tusker will seek to salvage their battered image on Saturday after their lofty ambition of cracking a double this season went up in smoke despite the valiant battle they put up in the final stages of the abrasive competition.

“We are disappointed that we didn’t reclaim the KPL title as we had hoped but we don’t have any more time left to lament over the unfortunate turn of events,” Matano said.

“We are going back to training with our eyes firmly fixed on securing the remaining slot to the continental stage. I know Homeboyz are a good side and beating them will make the victory all the more pleasurable,” Matano said.

Matano’s remarks came hours after Kakamega Homeboyz’s head coach Patrick Odhiambo vowed to catapult his charges to triumph. Odhiambo tipped his talent-laden squad to cruise past Tusker in the FKF Cup finals on their way to a maiden appearance on the continental.

“We want to be in the best mood possible as we head to the big final against Tusker. We are confident of flying the country’s flag in the Caf Confederation Cup.”

“We know how demanding it is to shine on the continental stage but we believe in our abilities to succeed. We wouldn’t have romped to the finals if we didn’t have what it takes to succeed at such levels,” Odhiambo stated.

Likewise, Kakamega Homeboyz honcho Cleophas Shimanyula has fired a warning shot ahead of the Titanic battle. “I know that everyone is talking about the biggest game left in the nation between us and Tusker. Rest assured we will win by a wide margin. We have prepared well enough to prevail over our opponents,” Shimanyula stated.
