Africa-Press – Kenya. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday held talks with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) President Martin Schulz.
Gachagua said the government is keen to work with international partners to strengthen and advance democracy.
German Ambassador to Kenya Sebastian Growth was also present during the meeting.
FES is a non-profit foundation funded by the German government for the advancement of democracy, international cooperation, and solidarity.
“Peace is critical for the growth of the Eastern African region. We will work with FES to ensure that ongoing peace efforts in the region are successful,” he said.
“We also strongly believe in political parties grounded on clear ideologies. Such well-established parties are good for a strong nation.”
The DP added that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is founded on a solid and clear ideology of empowering the people through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Gachagua said he will engage with FES and the Social Democratic Party, (SPD) the oldest political party in Germany to advance the country’s democracy.
