Africa-Press – Kenya. National Super League (NSL) side Mully Children’s Family (MCF) coach David Mahira hopes to lead his team to the Kenya Premier League next season.

Mahira took charge of the team in mid-season from Bernard Kawinzi, a former Kariobangi Sharks assistant coach, who stayed at the club for only six months.

Yesterday, Mahira said he is unhappy with the Yatta-based team’s season. “We didn’t start the league well because we won only one game in the first leg. So far, we have won 10 in the second leg and we are looking forward to finishing the league on a high note against Migori Youth on Saturday,” said Mahira.

He added: “What matters most in the league is how you start. I hope we shall start strong next season because we want to play in the top-tier league. As a community club, we want to join Shabana and Murang’a Seal in KPL.”

Mahira, a former footballer, said he is likely to sign a maximum of four players. “I hope to keep the current squad and beef up a few areas. This is a good team comprising mostly youthful players,” the tactician added.

MCF are currently seventh on the log with 43 points from 31 matches and will face off with Migori Youth on Saturday in their last game. It is a high stake and a must-win game for Migori Youth.

The Migori-based side needs a win to be assured of a promotion/relegation play-off against KPL side Wazito. Migori are battling for the slot with neighbours Mara Sugar.

Mara Sugar will on Saturday play on-form Mwatate United at Wundanyi Stadium in Taita Taveta County. Migori Youth are third with 59 points while Mara Sugar are fourth with 57 points.
