Africa-Press – Kenya. UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala has arrived in Garissa town for UDA Party Delegates meeting. He is also in the town to recruit members of the party.
He said their focus as the party is to recruit 15 million UDA members by 2027. “Arrival in Garissa town for UDA Party Delegates meeting and member recruitment exercise. Our focus is 15 million UDA members by 2027,” he tweeted.
He was welcomed by some Garissa leaders who donned white caps and t-shirts. The United Democratic Alliance party continues to woo voters as they intensify the mass recruitment of members.
On May 19, Malala said the party currently has 9.98 million members. He asked party coordinators to take the member-registration exercise seriously in their regions.
“We want to urge party coordinators that when you go back home, make sure you register members. The IEBC register has about 22 million voters and we would like, to have at least 15 million people as UDA,” Malala said.
“So that when elections come we just ask our members to vote for us and we win elections. We still have about 5.5 million members we need to register to join our party.” Malala said UDA must win any election by a simple majority based on the weight of the party membership.
