Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya and Senegal will now enjoy visa-free entries, Foreign Affairs CS Alfred Mutua has said.

In a statement on Monday, CS Mutua said this was after a bilateral meeting between President William Ruto and Senegal President Macky Sall.

“It was announced that following Kenya’s earlier decision to lift visa restrictions to holders of Senegalese passports, Senegal has now reciprocated by providing free visa entry to Kenyan passport holders,” he said.

The CS said the move was a great step towards enhancing regional integration and the free movement of Africans within Africa.

“This will grow trade between our two countries and open up tourism and education opportunities for citizens of both Nations.”

As of July 2023, Kenyan passport holders can travel visa-free to 44 countries and territories.

They include Botswana, Eswatini, Ghana, Gambia, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius and Mozambique among others.

To travel they, however, must have a valid passport – usually six months after the departure date – and one must purchase travel health insurance as required by their destination country.
