Africa-Press – Kenya. The National Police Service is investigating a video in which a man dressed in police uniform was reportedly seen uttering indespicable remarks about the President.
In the viral video, the ‘officer’ seems to be reading comments from Tiktok on the ongoing demonstrations, mostly from people who are calling for the President to leave office.
In the video, he can be heard saying that Kenyans were angry and that it is time for a dialogue.
In response, NPS in a statement on Wednesday condemned the remarks and termed them as ‘regrettable’ adding that they have embarked on an internal review with a view of preferring appropriate disciplinary action against the said officer.
“The attention of the National Police Service is drawn to a video clip circulating on social media, depicting an improperly dressed ‘police officer’ making misleading and reckless remarks,” NPS said.
“As a Disciplined Service, we wish to clarify and assure the public that the behaviour portrayed in the clip is not only unacceptable but also doesn’t reflect the values of NPS.”
NPS further noted that as a service, it remains focused on training its officers to the highest standards.
