Africa-Press – Kenya. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has commended security officers for effectively ‘crushing’ criminals who disguised as protesters during the Azimio’s demonstrations. Speaking Thursday in Isiolo, Gachagua said the officers responded in an appropriate manner to ensure the lives and property are protected.

“We want to applaud Interior CS Kindiki Kithure, IG Japhet Koome and all officers for averting loss of lives and damage to property of Kenyans and ask them to continue that way,” he said.

The DP at the same time ruled out the possibility of having a dialogue with the Opposition so as to discontinue the demonstration arguing they have been used to blackmail and intimidate.

President William Ruto, he said, has the mandate to lead the country for the next five years and any attempt to bring him down will not succeed. “There is no shortcut to ascend to the presidency but through the ballot and this was confirmed by Kenyans,” he stated.

He told Raila that if he wanted to be the president he should wait until 2027. During the Wednesday’s protests, the officer’s anti-riot manual involved dressing up in civilian clothes and in some cases deploying guerrilla warfare tactics to push demonstrators away from the city.

Some wore aprons that were popular with street and grocery vendors while others put up casual clothes, disguised as demonstrators or their sympathisers, but concealed lethal weapons.

Some impersonated journalists and demonstrators too and only swung into action after creating considerable rapport with the demonstrators who would assume they were harmless.
