Africa-Press – Kenya. National men’s cricket coach Francis Otieno has said Kenya will take 14 players to the annual Kwibuka tournament to be held in Rwanda next month.
Otieno said he expects the players to resume training on May 9 after their exploits in the Twenty20 International series that was held in Lugogo Stadium in Kampala, Uganda from April 18-23.
“The players return to training on Tuesday, May 9 after a short break. We want to prepare well for the Rwanda show,” Otieno told the star digital.
He added: “The team performed dismally in Rwanda because we had poor preparations. We also had a lot of changes in terms of personnel but we hope to rectify that. ”
Kenya were runners up in last year’s Kwibuka event. Rivals Tanzania were champions and the two countries are set to renew their rivalry once again.
Tanzania floored Kenya in the group stage and final round by 38 runs and 44 runs respectively.
“We want to redeem ourselves in Rwanda. That calls for intense training and hard work,” Otieno added.
