Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya has recorded 194 new Covid-19 cases, from a sample size of 1,779 tested in the last 24 hours with a positivity rate of 10.9%.
Of the cases, 184 are Kenyans while 10 are foreigners. 105 are males and 89 are females. The youngest isa nine-year-old child while the oldest is 90 years.
During a briefing on Monday, April 26, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe stated that 248 patients had recovered from the disease, 218 from home-based care, and 30 from various health facilities.
Total recoveries now stand at 106,836 out of which 77,822 are from home-based care and isolation, while 29,014 are from various health facilities.
On a sad note, 21 patients succumbed to the disease, one reported in the last 24 hours, 20 on diverse dates within the last one month. The cumulative deaths so far are at 2,643.
A total of 1,417 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 6,959 patients are on Home-based isolation and care.
205 patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), 42 of whom are on ventilatory support and 133 on supplemental oxygen. 30 patients are on observation.
As of today, a total of 826,617 persons have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 disease countrywide. Of these 477,754 are aged 58 years and above, Health workers 152,809, teachers 126, 801 whole Security officers 69,253.
As of April 25, 2021, a total of 1,080,000 doses had been distributed to the regional depots countrywide leaving a balance of 40,000 doses at the Kitengela Central Vaccines stores.
The Ministry of Health has continued to urge Kenyans to adhere to the new Covid-19 guidelines instituted by the government in order to curb the third wave of the virus.
He noted that the government would not ease the containment measures despite the decline of the Covid-19 positivity rate.
