Africa-Press – Kenya. Contrary to the norm, President William Ruto opened his car door, leaving his aide-de-camp caught by surprise.
In a video seen by the Star, Ruto while arriving at the British High Commissioner opened the door for himself as his ADC Brigadier Timothy Stelu Lekolool is seen moving with speed to do it himself.
The President on Wednesday had gone to the residence of the British High Commissioner to Kenya where he was received by Jane Marriot to sign a book of condolences for the late Queen Elizabeth.
An ADC’s role, which is performed by a military officer, is mostly ceremonial; to give the presidency dignity and honour.
He is expected to follow the President whenever he goes out on official duties.
He is supposed to escort the president out of the State House into a waiting car, open the door, and salute when the President leaves the car.
The ADC at times carries the President’s personal items like mobile phones and speeches.
He also receives gifts or other items on behalf of the President.
He also works closely with the Presidential Escort Unit Commander, the man directly in charge of Uhuru’s personal security and that of close family members
