Africa-Press – Kenya. Azimio leaders Raila Odinga, Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka will on Tuesday attend the funeral of Brian Mwendwa a victim of alleged police brutality in Emali, Makueni.
In a statement, ODM director of communication Philip Etale said the three will be accompanied by other leaders from the coalition.
Brian was allegedly hit by a bullet on July 12, as police dispersed protesters in Emali town. He died on the spot.
“Azimio leaders led by Raila Odinga Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka will today attend the funeral of Master Brian Malika Mwendwa at Emali in Makueni,” Etale said on Tuesday.
Azimio claimed that at least 70 people lost their lives during the demos, but this cannot be verified.
Last week, the Azimio leaders attended the funerals of victims of alleged police brutality during the anti-government protests called by the Opposition.
On Friday, the Raila-led team was in Bondo, Siaya, for the same.
Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka and Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua who were also present condemned police brutality and urged the international community to turn their focus on Kenya.
They also called for IG Japhet Koome’s resignation.
On Saturday, they attended another funeral for victims in Luanda, accompanied by top Azimio leaders and Mama Ida Odinga.
