Africa-Press – Kenya. Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has hinted at conducting a fresh round of online revision lessons for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.

Babu brought his intentions to light after sharing a video capturing his previous lessons.

Underneath, he wrote a crisp message that read: “Coming soon. Don’t miss this.”

The firebrand legislator has previously taken students through mathematics and chemistry lessons amid criticism from various quarters.

In 2020, Babu received a warning from the basic education principal secretary Belio Kipsang who accused him of exposing learners to unauthorised content.

“All the content of learning delivered to students must be approved by the KICD, whether for online learning or physical learning. And every teacher must be qualified,” Kipsang said then.

He, however, equally received compliments from the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) honcho Ezekiel Mutua.

“What Hon. Babu Owino is doing is an inspiration to all of us and especially the youth to know that education is not just for passing exams. It’s an asset to navigate life,” Mutua had said then.

“Babu Owino can step in and save the world if there were no teachers. He deserves a global award,” added Mutua.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) lauded Babu’s efforts in teaching secondary school learners through social media.

In a past interview with the Voice of America (VOA), the MP said his kind gesture was meant to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic that kept learners away from school.

“I am doing this to keep the students busy during this time when they are out of school. The good book (Bible) warns that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

“I am also sure that these lessons are timely for Form Four students who will be sitting their national exams later this year,” he said.

Babu possesses a first-class degree in Actuarial Science which deploys mathematical and statistical methods to calculate risks in insurance, finances and other relevant sectors.

He sat his KCSE exams at Kisumu Boys High School where he scored an A- minus of 79 points.
