Belgium to support Kenya in quest for region's peace, stability

Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya and Belgium have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations. The agreement, according to President William Ruto, will provide a framework for engagement in partnerships.

This was agreed on after a meeting between Ruto and Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo in Brussels on Wednesday. The head of state is in the country on a two-day working visit and is expected back in the country Thursday evening.

In a statement, Ruto said Belgium would also support Kenya in its quest to maintain peace and stability for the region’s prosperity. Cabinet Secretaries Alfred Mutua (Foreign Affairs), Njuguna Ndungu (Finance) and Soipan Tuya (Environment) were present.

The two leaders also agreed to work together to advance the growth of the renewable energy sector in Kenya and promote carbon credit management. The two nations seek to partner in other areas on food security, health, port management, the digital economy and Kenya’s position on the Ukraine war.

“Belgian Biotechnology companies are set to establish insulin, vaccine and cancer drug manufacturing companies in the country,” read a statement.

“Belgium will also support Kenya’s quest to maintain peace and stability for the sake of the region’s prosperity.

Ruto said Kenya will also work with Belgian Biotechnology companies to establish insulin, vaccine and cancer drug manufacturing companies in the country.
