Africa-Press – Kenya. Michael Biwott and Ruth Cheboi of Karibu Sports Club settled for third places in their respective races in the 100th edition of the Hamilton Boxing Day Run in Ontario, Canada.
In the 10-mile men’s category, Biwott, who was suffering from a hamstring injury and battling unfavourable weather conditions, against all odds obliterated the strong field to cross the finish line in 54:56.
In the women’s four-mile category, Ella Heiss of Canada took the honours in the highly contested race in 38:04. USA’s Heather Kennedy placed second in 38:22 as Cheboi was forced to settle for third place in 38:57.
For their third place finish, Biwott and Cheboi walked away with Sh24,678 each.
