Blak Blad Faces Mwamba in Enterprise Cup Highlights

Africa-Press – Kenya. Blak Blad will host Mwamba in the pick of the Enterprise Cup Round of 16 fixtures on Saturday at the Kenyatta University grounds. The varsity side sits fifth on the Kenya Cup log following a 21–10 win over Nakuru, a 40–26 victory against Quins, and a loss to Strathmore Leos.

Head coach Bernard Rotich will aim to close out the year with a win and build momentum ahead of the league’s restart in January. Rotich expects a competitive contest against Mwamba, who were relegated to the Championship but currently sit second on the log — on course for a return to the Kenya Cup next season.

“It will be a tough test. Mwamba are playing well, but at the same time, we are in good form with two wins on the bounce, and we are relishing the battle,” noted Rotich.

Rotich will rely on Arthur Nyakundi, Moses Ayieko, Rodgers Akoth, and inspirational captain Obak Kuke in the forward pack, with co-captain Benjamin Rugar, David Odhiambo, and Elvis Otete leading the backline.

Mwamba, under former Quins and Homeboyz tactician Paul Murunga, will be aiming to upset the odds and book a spot in the quarterfinals against the resilient varsity outfit.

Ian Wamalwa will spearhead the charge for Murunga’s men in the forwards alongside Brian Kahura, Aldrine Adanje, Kevin Juma, and Collins Odhiambo. In the backs, Dennis Ndayala, Charles Kuka, and Eugene Ojiamabo will be the key actors in a potent Kulabu backline.

The last time the two sides met was in March, with Mwamba claiming a hard-fought 29–15 win. Murunga believes his charges are up to the task in what he expects to be a competitive contest.

“We have had a good week of training, specifically looking at improvements in the scrum and lineout, sharpening the attack, and tweaking our attack plays,” noted Murunga.

In other fixtures, KCB take on Daystar Falcons, while Strathmore Leos face Zetech Oaks. Champions Kabras have progressed to the last eight after Impala handed them a walkover.

Oilers, Nondies, and Nakuru have also advanced to the quarters after their opponents—MMUST, Kisumu, and South Coast Pirates—withdrew citing financial constraints.
