Africa-Press – Kenya. The three terrorists who were recaptured after escaping from the Kamiti Maximum Prison were on Monday, November 22, transferred to Anti-terrorist Police Unit (ATPU) headquarters.

The decision was made after they were presented before a Nairobi court where police sort to hold them for 10 days.

The ATPU headquarters, located along Nairobi’s Ngong Road, is one of the most protected facilities in the country.

Musharraf Abdalla, Joseph Juma, and Mohammed Abdi escaped from the country’s most secure prison on Sunday night, November 14 – triggering a national security scare. They are reported to have confessed bribing their way out of the facility located in Kahawa West, Nairobi County.

The escape saw the intervention of President Uhuru Kenyatta who chaired a national security crisis meeting on Wednesday, November 17. A cash reward of Ksh60 million was also announced as part of the search for the prisoners.

On Thursday, November 18, the three wanted men were captured in Kitui while reportedly planning an escape into Somalia. They were transferred back to Kamiti and received by security bosses led by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.
