“KCB, however, arrive with confidence after a commanding 3-0 win over Chebaiywa Lions, a result that highlighted their attacking sharpness and tactical discipline.
Forward Boniface Omondi believes the banking side are ready to take on the champions without hesitation. “We are not intimidated by names; we are coming to compete, dictate play and impose ourselves fully,” Omondi said.
“We have watched them, we have analysed them, and we believe there are moments we can hurt them.
”Omondi also highlighted the squad’s growing hunger for success.
“We are hungry, we are focused, and we believe this is our moment to make a statement,” he said.
Despite respecting the defending champions, he insisted KCB will approach the match with belief rather than caution. “We respect them, but we do not fear them. That is the mindset in our dressing room,” he added.
KCB head coach Robert Matano, popularly known as “The Lion”, delivered a typically forceful assessment of the tie, framing it as a battle rather than a spectacle.
“We have prepared for a battle, not a ceremony. Nairobi United are champions, but we are not here to admire champions,” Matano said.
He stressed that knockout football demands mentality as much as technique. “It is not just about skill; it is about courage, discipline and execution under pressure,” he said.
“If you switch off for one second at this level, you are punished.
