Africa-Press – Kenya. A child was rescued in the ongoing rescue operations where a 7-storey building under construction collapsed in Kiambu.

The child was rescued alive and rushed to Kiambu Level 5 hospital for a check-up.

She was crying for help as a multi-agency security team was pulling her out of the debris.

In a video seen by the Star, the girl had sustained injuries on the head.

The house collapsed on a residential house below it trapping some of those who were there.

Kenya Defence Forces joined the Kiambu County Fire & Disaster Management Department, Kenya Red Cross, and Kenya Police and volunteered in a rescue operation.

The death toll as of Monday mid-day had increased to three and six were injured.

The incident is blamed on lack of supervision and greediness by contractors.

Kiambu head of DCI Richard Mwaura said they are investigating the incident.

“We are now focused on rescuing the victims and will deal with the rest later,” he said.

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi was present during the rescue mission.
