Africa-Press – Kenya. Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Thursday held talks with Qatar Ambassador to Kenya Mutair Al-Enazi.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.

According to Duale, the discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Kenya and Qatar.

“The courtesy call underscored the strengthening bilateral relations between Kenya and Qatar, focusing on security cooperation and mutual interests in the Horn of Africa,” Duale said.

He revealed the discussion covered the pending defense cooperation agreement that covers intelligence sharing, joint military training and counter-terrorism efforts.

This, he said, includes ongoing training of a Kenyan Officer in Doha and an invitation for Qatar to participate in the Joint Command and Staff Course (JCSC).

“Additionally, we noted the significant presence of over 65,000 Kenyan workers in Qatar, contributing to its economic development while benefiting from employment opportunities,” Duale said.

Also present during the meeting include Chief of Policy and Plans at the Defence headquarters Richard Mwanzia and the director of the Middle East Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdishakur Sheikh Hussein.
