DCI urges Kenyans to call police lines days after Amin shared contact details

Africa-Press – Kenya. The office of the DCI on Friday said that those with emergencies should call the police toll-free numbers instead of directly contacting the DCI boss.

Amin Mohamed had made his personal contact information public while being sworn in at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, October 19, and this resulted in a surge in calls.

Amin, in his true spirit of public service, shared his cell phone number in a bid to ease engagement with the public when in need.

But the DCI on Friday said that owing to Amin’s busy schedule, he may not always be in a position to either pick up all calls made to him or respond in good time.

“The Director wishes to thank all Kenyans who have and continue to reach out to him over one issue or the other. We also note that owing to his busy schedule, the Director may not always be in a position to either pick up all calls made to him or return them promptly,” DCI said.

Members of the public seeking redress over urgent matters were therefore encouraged to reach out to the police through toll-free numbers 999, 911, 112 and 0800 722 203.

Amin reassured the public that he shall continue to avail himself to the public as he addresses their concerns.
