Africa-Press – Kenya. The Directorate of Criminal Investigation have put Kenya Pipeline and Kenya Defence Forces on notice ahead of today’s women’s volleyball matches at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

The sleuths resoundingly beat Nairobi Water 3-1 ( 25-11, 25-27, 25-17 and 25-11) to mark a dream start to the Paul Bitok national tournament that is also played at the Nyayo Stadium and at the Ulinzi Sports Complex gymnasium.

DCI coach Daniel Bor said his charges are eager to break the win-less duck against Kenya Pipeline and the team is braced up for the challenge. The oil merchants are in fine form and enjoy an unbeaten run that started last season in all competitions.

“We have not won against Pipeline for a while but that is bound to change if the training we have had for the last week since returning from Rwanda is any barometer,” Bor said.

“We faced little resistance against Nairobi Water but today’s match will be a different ballgame altogether. Our service and backcourt defence are areas to improve on. The Pipeline match will be tactical and so we have to get our act together and give them a run for their money. By upping our game, we can match their high standards,” Bor added.

Progressing to the next round is DCI’s priority according to Bor. “We need to claim maximum points in the two fixtures to go deeper into the competition.”

Elsewhere, reigning African Club Champions KCB beat Nairobi Prisons in straight sets at the same venue.

The bankers, who will defend their continental crown next month in Tunisia, registered sets of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-11. Kenya Pipeline put Kenya Defence Forces to the sword in their 3-0 sets win.

In the men’s matches, the General Service Unit annihilated KAPU volleyball club in sets of 25-17, 25-7 and 25-14 in the pool ‘A’ match.

In the pool ‘B’ match, Kenya Ports Authority slayed Kenya Army 3-0 in sets of 23-14, 25-19 and 25-23 while Trail Blazers silenced Prisons Nairobi 3-0.

A set score of 25-12, 25-19 and 25- saw KPA win their second match 3-0 against Equity Bank.
