Details of Shared NASA Alliance Funds Revealed: What Each Affiliate Party Will Receive

Africa-PressKenya. A tabulation of the funds ODM has agreed to share with its National Super Alliance (NASA) affiliates reveals what each of the parties will receive from the sharable funds.

ODM leader Raila Odinga agreed to share the funds in a written letter addressed to NASA co-principals, revealing that ODM would share Ksh153 million between its principal members, retaining Ksh334.6 million of the funds.

Wiper Party belonging to Kalonzo Musyoka will receive the lion’s share of the funds ODM agreed to release. The party will receive Ksh70.4 million of the funds.

Amani National Congress (ANC), led by its leader Musalia Mudavadi, will receive the second largest share amounting to Ksh43.8 million of the sharable funds.

Wetangula’s Ford Kenya will receive Ksh36.04 million of the funds, a huge reprieve for party leader Moses Wetangula, who has for a long time pushed for the release of the funds by ODM.

Isaac Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) will receive the smallest share of the funds. The party will receive Ksh3.08 million of the money.

Isaac Ruto of CCM who has now moved to support Deputy President William Ruto will relish the acquisition of the funds which he may channel towards Ruto’s course.

ODM shared the money based on the amount of money it accrued between the years 2017 and 2020, where the party received Ksh487 million.

The Raila-led party agreed to only share the funds it received based on the number of seats in the National Assembly and the Senate, refusing to share the funds it received base on the number of governors and ward representatives.

The funds are now available to all NASA principals, after Raila, who had been previously adamant not to share the funds, agreed to give the party affiliates their warranted dues.

Raila agreed to share the funds giving the reason that the decision to share the funds would scale down the unhealthy exchange of words between the principals in the coalition against ODM.
