Africa-Press – Kenya. Zetech Sparks destroyed Kenyatta University “Oryx” 83-25 in a Kenya National Basketball League women’s match at the University of Nairobi courts.

Coach Maurice Obilo’s girls were in a no-nonsense mood as they raved off to a 25-8 first-quarter start and led 41-14 at the breather.

They continued their onslaught after the break, punching hapless KU 22-7 in the third and 20-4 in the fourth.

Leading a balanced Sparks attack were Agnetta Kambua and Beryl Aoko, who showed the way with 12 points apiece.

“The game was great. We played well after being out of action for one month,” said Obilo. “This was a great build-up match for us going into next weekend’s league games.”

The University of Nairobi Dynamites hit Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) 42-38 in a closely-fought duel.

UoN took a 28-18 lead at halftime and hanged on for a hard-earned win despite Lynx’s 13-3 surge in the third stanza.

“We played badly in the third period but recovered in last period. My players are still unfit but are catching up,” said UoN’s Juma Kent.

Shalom Gacheri lifted UoN with 11 points while Priscilla Makori, Colette Joy and Jane Macharia picked up a combined 22 for the losers.

Africa Nazarene University (ANU) hit Lady Bucks 56-31 as Mercy Mumo burried 21 points. The Kisumu side had lost 64-40 to UoN.

In the lower division, United States International University beat Scarlet 51-25 and Cabals Elisists pipped Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) 61-56.

Strathmore University had a fruitful weekend in their Western Kenya tour, hitting Swift 56-25 and Butere Girls 67-52.
