President William Ruto’s vision to transform Kenya into a developed country like Singapore is not a joke, as claimed by critics, his aide Farouk Kibet has said.
Farouk said those criticising the plan have narrow minds and want the country to remain trapped in cycles of poverty and underdevelopment.
“The Singapore dream is not a joke but something realistic and achievable as planned by the President. Those who oppose the idea have no vision for this country at all,” said Farouk.
Farouk slammed opposition leaders, whom he accused of promoting tribalism and consistently opposing development programmes initiated by President Ruto.
“It is unimaginable that someone can be so tribal to the extent of thinking of blocking children from going to school in certain areas,” said Farouk.
He said the “two terms” slogan was not mere rhetoric but a call for Kenyans to support proven leadership that is transforming the country across all sectors.
He spoke during a Thanksgiving prayer service at the Reformed Church of East Africa in Kapsaos, Turbo Sub-county, Uasin Gishu County on Sunday.
Farouk said Kenya cannot remain a poor country under the leadership of President Ruto, whom he said has a clear vision and is taking bold measures to develop the country.
“Imagine someone wants to build for you a permanent house, yet another insists that you should remain in a grass-thatched mud house. We should not entertain people who claim to be leaders but have no vision for this country,” said Farouk.
He said President Ruto had already proved his vision by stabilising the economy, which he found on its knees when he took over.
Farouk said Kenyans should support Ruto for a second term in office so that he can fulfil his development plans, including laying the foundation for the Singapore dream.
“I urge even our churches to pray for the President and the country as he works to strengthen our economy,” said Farouk.
He said it is due to the subsidised fertiliser programme that the country’s food security is stable under President Ruto.
Farouk said the President has ensured farmers access subsidised fertiliser at Sh2,500 and urged counties to support the initiative by offering additional subsidies to farmers.
He said leaders who thrive on tribalism have no place in the country and should not be entertained by Kenyans.
Farouk said President Ruto is focused on uniting the country and implementing development programmes and will not be distracted by critics who thrive on tribalism.
He also vowed to continue mobilising residents of Turbo Constituency to transform the area through life-changing initiatives.
“Turbo Kwanza, mambo baadaye (Turbo first, other issues later),” said Farouk.
