Africa-Press – Kenya. Motorists using the Mai Mahiu–Suswa–Narok (B7) Road are facing major disruptions following flooding and silt accumulation along several sections near Suswa, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced.
In a traffic advisory released on April 16, 2026, Kenya National Highways Authority confirmed that heavy rainfall had caused sections of the busy highway, particularly around Kedong Ranch near Suswa, to become impassable.

The agency said emergency response teams have been deployed and are working around the clock to clear the debris and restore access.
However, motorists have been warned against attempting to drive through flooded areas due to the risk of vehicles being swept away or getting stuck in deep silt deposits.
Drivers traveling between Naivasha ICD and Suswa Ranch—a stretch identified as especially hazardous—have been urged to exercise extreme caution as heavy rains persist in the region.
For those yet to begin their journeys, KeNHA is advising the use of the alternative Narok–Njoro–Nakuru (B18) Road to avoid delays and potential danger.
“We are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of all road users and to restore normal traffic flow as soon as possible,” the authority stated, adding that traffic marshals and police officers have been deployed to guide motorists.
The Mai Mahiu–Suswa–Narok corridor is a critical transport link connecting the Rift Valley region, and the disruption is expected to impact both passenger travel and cargo movement.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as rainfall remains heavy, raising concerns over further deterioration of road conditions.
